映像作品”Ants”が、FIDBA- INTERNATIONAL DOCUMENTARY FILM FESTIVAL OF BUENOS AIRES 「新しい物語」部門にノミネートされました

このたび、映像作品”Ants”が、イベロアメリカ最大のドキュメンタリー映画祭、FIDBA-ブエノス アイレス 国際ドキュメンタリー映画祭の「新しい物語」部門にノミネートされました。
今後国際競争の中から受賞者が決定することになります。
ぼく、中村智道のドキュメンタリー映画祭への出品は、初となります。

“Ants”は基本的に、キヤノン写真新世紀2020 のグランプリ個展で発表された、写真作品”Ants”とテーマを同じくし、多くのイメージを共有する映像作品であり、それを再編集、そして、音楽家,パスカルズの坂本弘道さんの協力の元に完成した実験的ドキュメンタリー映像作品となります。英語字幕、およびシノプシス等の英語翻訳は、友人の、津田塾大学准教授 川端浩平さんによるものです。
また、空撮、ポートレート撮影の件では、岡山フィルムコミッションの妹尾さま、赤磐市の小野寺さま、あとNHKの赤坂さま、そしてご協力いただいたみなさまには大変お世話になりました。ありがとうございます。

以下、作品の簡単な解説

この作品”Ants”は、私の日常生活における親密な関係や他者を撮影した写真や映像で構成されています。蟻の世界と私たちの世界を対比させることで、この世界における深い意味での共感を描き出そうとしています。「Ants」の世界に入り、理解するために、複数の視点があります。一人は私「Tomomichi」であり、もう一人はパートナーの「Shiho」です。それぞれの人生の断片が表現され、それらが、第三の視点である「All」つまり”すべて”につながっています。”すべて “とは、視聴者を含む全ての他者を意味します。親密な世界と他者とのつながりを感じることで、すべての存在の生の断片のつながりを再構築することができるでしょう。このようにして、人間と蟻、或いは他者や自然界とのつながりについての想像力を取り戻すことができるのではないでしょうか。私たちは蟻のようであり、蟻は私たちのようでもあります。

This work is organized by photos and films illuminates intimate relationships and others in my everyday lives. It attempts to depict the deep empathy of human world by contrasting world of ants and ours. There are multiple perspectives to enter and feel the world of “Ants”. One of them is myself “Tomomichi”, and other one is my partner “Shiho”. They are expressed with fragments of each of their lifetimes of which are connected to the third perspective “All”. “All” implies all others including viewers. By feeling the connection between intimate world and Others, we would be able to reimagine connections among the fragments of lifetimes of all beings. In this way, we would be able to regain imagination about human’s connections with ants. We are like ants, and ants are like us.

FIDBA

FIDBA is biggest Documentary Film Festival of Iberoamerica, and the first International Documentary Film Festival in Argentina, space where cinema of the real, films with the same vocation, dialogue with one another and address the diversity of forms and particular tasks that take reality as material. From this premise, the FIDBA is planned as an annual event in which they will present a selection of new directors, revisit the films of prominent authors and will recover works and films unknown to mainstream audiences.

LINK is the industry area of FIDBA wich is one of the biggest documentary meetings of Latin America. With different areas of work: WORK IN PROGRESS, WIP MEETINGS, TERRITORIES, DOCLAB, ONE TO ONE MEETINGS, and conferences and masterclasses

FIDBA also aims to be a meeting place for authors to widen our perception of reality and ways of expressing it and thinking it out through film, but also the arts, new media formats and new narratives ranging from photography to installations, from documentary theater to transmedia storytelling, not to mention the intersections between reality and fiction. The Festival is open, in short, to all documentary works that are a reflection and an effort to understand reality.

Facing a market that prevails and makes all relations a part of a great show, the documentary film maintains and reaffirms its character, for making every moment and letting rule for things not easily controlled, must necessarily invent forms for always unresolved issues: the documentary is unable to reduce the world to a previous device. And though the procedures are provided, and by nature, insecure, unstable and fragile, that is exactly their strength and driving force: to be there to allow the construction of new maps and to explore over those that are not entirely known to us yet.

すべての関係を大きなショーの一部にしてしまうような市場に直面しながらも、ドキュメンタリー映画は、その特徴を維持し、再確認している。すべての瞬間を作り、簡単にコントロールできないものをルール化するためには、常に未解決の問題のために、必然的にフォームを発明しなければならないのだ。ドキュメンタリーは、世界を以前の装置に還元することはできない。そして、その手順は提供されたものであり、本質的には不安定で不安定で壊れやすいものであるが、それこそが彼らの強さであり、原動力である。つまり、新しい地図の構築を可能にし、まだ完全には知られていないものの上を探索するためにそこにいるのである。
